Since before the World War II, C. Itoh & Co., Ltd. had already established its first representative office in Hong Kong. At that time, Hong Kong Office acted as a liaison office of the Head Office. In 1956, Hong Kong Office changed its status into Branch Office and started its own business.

After incorporated in Hong Kong on 22nd October 1974, C. Itoh & Co., (H.K.) Limited soon established its own status in different trading sectors. On 1st October 1992, C. Itoh & Co., Limited formally changed its English name to ITOCHU Corporation, following parent company's action, C. Itoh & Co., (H.K.) Ltd. also changed its name to ITOCHU Hong Kong Limited. With the excellent business reputation and rich experience of ITOCHU, ITOCHU Hong Kong Limited expands its business in diversified trading sectors, such as textiles, general merchandise, metal, foodstuff, machinery and chemicals. In 1982, the Company actively participated in Hong Kong property market, which included the construction and project finance of commercial and residential projects. In 1998, the Company engaged in other business activity and had a rapid increase in its investment in China. Investment projects included building of factories, restaurants and highway. According to the figure recorded as at 1st April 1998, total amount of investment has been over US$30 Million of which US$6.3 Million are invested into China. Foreseeing the good prospect of China's future, ITOCHU Hong Kong Limited will continue its investment in China. Growing together with Hong Kong during the past 50 years, ITOCHU Hong Kong Limited has full confidence about the future of Hong Kong and the Company prepares to meet any challenge in the future.
